The beautiful Jenny McCarthy and the hilarious Jim Carrey are no longer a couple. Just one of the latest in celebrity breakups, Jenny was on Oprah the other day and she talked candidly about ending their relationship.

She had some really good things to say, in my opinion!

First she said that one of the things she learned from the breakup of her relationship is that “I don’t need a lover to have a love in my life.” She was referring to the fact that loving herself was enough.

I can certainly relate! It is sometimes difficult to feel that way in our “relationship-centered” society but I give her kudos for “getting” that amazing lesson while going through a tough time.

The other point Jenny made on the Oprah show was that it is all too easy to blame the other person when you are hurting after a breakup.

She had a wonderful solution! She said that what she did was write a list of all the things that he had done that she didn’t like. Such as

He did B

He did C

And then, she said she crossed off the “He” and replaced it with “I” on each item and re-read them. She said it was extremely enlightening and really helped her in the healing process.

So try that next time you are going through a breakup or even just processing the hurt of an argument or altercation with your partner or loved one. You might be really surprised at how much it helps!
